Array-ne This school doesn’t represent white people enough. To prove that I love all people and hate discrimination, I want to start a club for white people. Everyone can join, of course, but we’re going to focus mainly on addressing the problems that white people have faced throughout the history of America. Other groups of Caucasian comrades, such as the KKK, the Council for Conservative Citizens and the Church of the Creator, claim the same kind of love for the white race that McClelland wishes to introduce into her high school. You don’t have to be Danny Glover to realize that any organization that aims to protect the dynamics of the white race is, um, perhaps going to be a tad offensive in the eyes of other ethnic groups. If people want to discuss racial dynamics, they would be better served in a multicultural forum rather than some high school Ku Klux Key Club.

The home was purchased from Clayton Mobile Homes on West Tennessee St. The lot I purchased was in a mobile home subdivision called Pine Lakes. One night my daughter called me at work to tell me the lights in her room were blinking off and on. I looked out the door, the bell is still ringing, and there isn’t a soul out there!Although it was after midnight and dark, I have 3 dogs that act like every passing stranger is Jack The Ripper, and they were laying around like throw rugs. Things would disappear then turn up in a room you hadn’t been in, the dogs would bark their heads off at empty corners, or the phone would ring and when you answered it, you’d only hear static. These were so common we started calling them haunt calls (oh well, must have been a haunt) All kidding aside, I’d hold my breath when ever we’d start to get a rash of these, because I knew something was going to happen.

-ne The Movement By Bo Kyaw NyeinMizzima News (www.mizzima.com) October 8, 2003: This is a challenging time for Burma, where the country is at the major crossroad and current events are demanding that everyone become involved in Burmese politics. Sound understanding of the political landscape of Burma politics is required if Burma is to be liberated from tyranny. A carefully thought out strategy is needed for the Burmese opposition (exile) to set the goals, to determine the end game and to choose the appropriate path to reach the common goal of everyone– Burman, Shan, Kachin, Karen, Kayar, Arakein and all the people of Burma– to be free from the yoke of this hated and brutal military dictatorship and to build a fair and balanced political system founded upon democracy and rule of law. Military Fascists Graduating from being the tool of Ne Win to suppress the opposition, the Burmese military was transformed by institutionalizing itself as the sole pillar of power. During Ne Win’s era, the military at least pretended to be looking out for the interest of the country, and tried to hide the corruption. After 40 years of misrule, the mentality of the present generation of Generals is to maximize their opportunity to enrich themselves while in power and to prolong military rule by any means. Marching Backward While the current world civilization is moving forward towards globalization and democracy, the current military rulers are marching backward, leading the country towards a self-glorified version of history of their own making. The military leaders divide into personal interest sections and loot the country for their own benefit with singular determination. If you peel off all the formalities and examine the core structure of military establishment,it is nothing but a gang of thugs—a Burmese mafia. Naturally people in the West praise her courage and the people inside the country and the opposition community takes justifiable pride in her leadership. But when the military establishment purposely prevented her from building the organization structure to run the successful political movement, she became the ‘Personality’ Only when Daw Aung San Suu Kyi was cornered into the position of singularity, the Military Intelligence people spread word that she had become a demi-god and tried to sow suspicion into the minds of the people. Before Daw Aung San Su Kyi came into the political scene, Ne Win and its military intelligence arm had systematically eliminated all the political infrastructures and marginalized all the seasoned politicians. After the 1988 uprising was crushed brutally by killing thousands indiscriminately, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, still standing tall, defiant to the nth degree and bravely demanding for democracy, became a natural leader for the people. While the world and all of us are busy building up the image and symbol of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi we failed to notice the concurrent activities of the Burmese military intelligence to systematically undermine both Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and the National League for Democracy. While the military left Daw Aung San Suu Kyi untouched because of her international stature many able and seasoned leaders were arrested. In addition, being infiltrated by the military intelligence at every level of the society, Burmese people in general are very suspicious of each other. Supporters without Hope While the military intelligence implemented their wicked acts to isolate DawAung San Suu Kyi, the military thugs also systematically suppressed her supporters. It is unthinkable in the western way of life, but in Fascist military controlled Burma, the whole family is punished if one of the family members is considered to be Daw Su supporter or an undesirable element of the society. Even under these difficult conditions, people are brave enough to come and greet Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and show their support whenever she visits the townships and divisions. In my opinion, the following are the root causes of division in the Burmese exile-citizen-activists in the Burmese opposition community: (1) Personality based politics (2) Suspicious mind set implanted by the military intelligence (3) Lack of experience in political activities (4) Lack of understanding of policy making (5) Lack of Common Activity (6) Lack of Vision on End Game For reasons that escape explanation, Burmese politics has extreme bias onpersonalities. It may be because Burma never had a chance to develop its civil society strongly, or suffering from repressed oppression, many of our political decisions and choices are based on personality rather than on political conviction or policy. In most nations of the west, where civil society is fully developed, there are some personality skirmishes, but many political players come together to fight for their political conviction or policies. Many Burmese grew up under very different and dangerous circumstances and maybe this is the price we all are paying tolerating decades of abuse by the military fascists. It doesn’t help either, that since 1962 coup, all non-regime supported political activities aresuppressed and punished and many of us have no experience or idea ofworking together for a political cause. We still have a heavy heart left for the well being of our people still struggling under the yoke of the military dictatorship and many of us become ‘Heineken Activists”. When the National Coalition Government of the Union of Burma (NCGUB) surfaced in the late 1980s, many groups and individuals who were looking forleadership from NCGUB got lost in the political wilderness when NCGUB failedto provide leadership. We are circling in local loops, and are not following a path to our goal, which is to free Burma from military dictatorship. We all should come together and remind NCGUB that the objective of politics is to unite the people and to gain strength and to lead them to victory with a clear vision and supporting policies. On the other hand, Burmese military thinking is based on “raw thinking”. The Burmese Military also know very well how power can be seductive and just by offering a small hope for power and position, how they can manipulate or divide the opposition. Military intelligence approached this individual and sold him a fabricated story about disgruntled regional military commanders planning to stage a coup against SLORC. (2) People inside Burma will see the first ray of hope that exile-citizen-activists can deliver and will come to trust our movement. Using a portion of these funds as seed money, we must build our own small groups to coordinate and help the internally displaced citizens and refugees, rape victims, or any form of victims from the military dictatorship. Basically we must create our own Burmese led organization to assist and coordinate with the NGOs working and helping in the border area. But the main focus must be to rebuild and strengthen our non-violent political activities within Burma. This activism for forming unity and movement, uniting with forces in the border area and finally building UG movement inside Burma will open an opportunity to groom our next generation leaders. This explains why the military dictatorship in Burma lives in fear of another nonviolent mass movement against it. We have wasted enough energies, resources, lives and we are not even near our goal of removing the military dictatorship. Let’s accept our mistakes and make an effort never to repeat again and most critical issue is to focus all our efforts on the single target: To end military dictatorship. Without ending this military dictatorship, no one dreams or desires or ambition will comes true. The country and the people will be perpetual slaves of the military fascists. Everyone has a Role to play During the 40 years of struggle against these military fascists, we all have learned a lot and some of us have become good at things we do. If we can set aside all our differences and concentrate to form a single united force and shoot at the same time why can’t we remove these military thugs? Everyone drive, effort and contribution is required to remove these hated military dictatorship system. Suggestion to ALL I would like to make the following suggestion for all to consider: (1) Let us all try to set aside our differences: Political convictions, ideologies, personal conflicts (2) Let us refocus our attention to remove the common enemy, the military fascists (3) Let us reassess our experiences and expertise, and find ways to pool Our common resources (4) Let us train and groom our next generation leaders (5) Let us grow our movement on inclusiveness and avoid building exclusive elite separate groups. (6) Let us make our honest commitment to try to build unity among us, and setLaser focus on a single target: Military Fascists (7) Let us make our best effort attempt to forgive and understand eachother in these critical time Challenge To All We cannot wait any longer to build this “Force More Powerful” It has been 40 years since the army came into power and 15 years since thesecond coup of the military. In Burma, the military has 400,000 troops.

Auxiliary Fire Units (Highlands) The Deputy Presiding Officer (Murray Tosh): The final item of business today is a members’ business debate on motion S2M-291, in the name of Fergus Ewing, on auxiliary fire units in the Highlands. Motion debated, That the Parliament notes that auxiliary fire units play a vital role in many rural communities in fighting fires and do so in conjunction with the retained fire brigades; believes that all involved, including Highland Council, the Firemaster, HMI and the Health and Safety Executive, should continue to discuss the implications of the HMI report in the context of integrated risk assessment and find an outcome that prevents the closure of so many of the auxiliary units. Page 5 shows that the number of incidents per firefighter in the Highlands and Islands seems to be about four, whereas for the busiest Scottish brigade, the number is running at more than 20 per firefighter. However, as the majority of firemen in the Highlands and Islands are part-time auxiliaries, the number that should be considered is the number of fire incidents per hour of duty. More to the point, the Highlands and Islands fire brigade area has a fluctuating population.

Syntax-Brillian joined the huge-screen LCD club today at Infocomm with its Olevia 665i 1080p LCD TV (similar model pictured above), featuring a big ol’ 65-inch screen and that Silicon Optics Realta HQV video processor that’s captured the hearts of many a TV watcher. If upscaling is so goddamn great, why go to all the trouble of actually having 1080p HDTV sources?Anyway, we do happen to like 65-inch screens displaying genuine (not upscaled, but the real thing) 1080p video, so this would be a prime candidate for our techno-lust, especially considering that its price tag will be a mere 0,000 this October.

My Unhurried Time Notes: February 6, 2006 - Exodus 39-40 and Matthew 23:23-39

Array Simon’s mother-in-law was in bed with a fever, and they told Jesus about her. He also drove out many demons, but he would not let the demons speak because they knew who he was.Very early in he morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. (I will be quoting the NIV study Bible’s foot notes periodically.) In quoting the NIV: Jesus probably wanted first to show by work and deed the kind of Messiah he was (in contrast to popular notions) before he clearly declared himself, and he would not let the demons frustrate this intent. We need to speak to them as Jesus did, telling them to leave in the name of Jesus Christ. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

The new solar panels have a controller that tells you exactly how much power they are generating, so you can watch it change as it gets sunnier and cloudier and as the sun gets lower you can see the output decrease. We also installed a new ham radio, my goodness, our pocketbook is quite a bit lighter but we are quite happy with the results. Our ham radio internet e-mail address is VE8BL@winlink.org You can not send attachments to this address, only text messages, so please do not send chain messages or jokes or funny comics to this address, we can not access the internet but can send and receive e-mail.When we bought the radio we got the main unit, the control unit which has all the buttons and dials on it, a speaker and a modem. We also had to install a new tuner and a new antenna wire.

The St. Andrew’s Saints boys’ basketball team cruised in winning fashion over the Wesson Cobras Friday night to add another W to the district win column. The win also gives the Saints revenge for a loss against Wesson in the first matchup of the season between the two schools on January 10, 61-48. Leading the Saints on the offensive side of the court were senior Todd Cronin, 16 points, and junior Bradford Blackmon with 14 points. Also scoring for the Saints were William Mayfield (12), Michael Halford (6), Trevor Hanlon (6), Sam Potesky (4), and Daniel Parry (3). The Cobras were led by Micah Davis, scoring 9 points. Blackmon thought the Saints did a good job of making adjustments from the first meeting with Wesson. The first time we played them we just let guys stand there and shoot wide open shots

God gave the vision for the Tabernacle to Moses on the mountain, since God had called Moses to lead His people to the Promised Land. Then, Moses communicated the vision to the skilled workmen, and they along with other people completed all of the work. (39:42) That process left Moses and the judges free to lead the people while the work was being done. I believe that God is looking for us to do the same things today in our churches. In Matthew 23 Jesus continues to speak to the multitude about the Jewish leaders to warn them about their hypocrisy. You must get rid of the hypocrisy and embrace the will of God in your heart.Tomorrow, I intend to read Leviticus 1-3 and Matthew 24:1-28.

Modern Authors In this week’s reading, Howard begins by explaining how the current binaries of mimesis/originality and collaboration/autonomy have shifted heavily toward originality and autonomy. Rights to textual labor are so ingrained in contemporary Western thought that even Engels recognized it as a form of individual property, while rejecting other notions of private property. Modern Plagiarists Howard asserts that the polar opposite of the “original author” used to be the respected “mimetic author.” Currently, however, the mimetic writer—the patchwriter—has been labeled a plagiarist, a morally reprehensible being, and the original/mimetic relationship has been turned into a hierarchical binary. Even though plagiarism is often treated as pure unmitigated evil, Howard notes that it is accepted in 4 basic scenarios: 1) political—politicians don’t write what they say, nor are they expected to 2) Teflon—great Authors that plagiarized, but are still considered untouchable 3) Great Wit—it’s OK to occasionally plagiarize as long as there is some aesthetic merit behind it 4) Postmodern Plagiarism—“there is no value judgment to plagiarism, except when it reveals the arbitrariness of modern notions of authorship—in which case it is a good thing” (104). Contemporary Alternatives An interesting section that examines 19th century women’s groups, Asian textual culture, African American folk preaching, critical theory, and electronic mediums, as paradigms that do not privilege originality/single authorship. Howard, expands on Nietzsche’s theory of rumination, calls it (re)formation and proposes the idea that teaching students to write via imitation/mimesis will help them to understand a text and enter into a particular discourse’s “conversation. She notes that (re)formative composition teaches students that “polyphony is not a sin; Lastly, Howard closes by stating that changing public perceptions of authorship and plagiarism is monumental work and admits that composition studies will not be able to change it.

Family Matters: Pornography’s Corrosive Growth

October 11th, 2008 by admin

Array-ne We are, as anyone who listens to the news knows, in the midst of a strong, emotional, and sometimes ugly and ad hominem debate on evolution versus intelligent design. From what I have read and heard, plus my own common sense, it seems to me that the sensible Catholic position is that evolution as scientific explanation may very well be the best that natural science, at least for now, has to offer on the question of origins but certainly cannot rule out God or a universe created by an intelligent being with purpose and meaning. The fuss is about the fact that within the natural science community some adamantly believe that the current theory of evolution is more ideology than natural science. After all, the glory of natural science is that anything goes when it comes to raising questions and doubts. It seems that some of the natural scientists so angered by the very questioning of evolution have their own extra-scientific baggage tacked on to evolution–a baggage not required by evolutionary theory. Because of that ideological investment in a non-theistic or deistic universe, these scientists react with venom to their colleagues who dare to question evolution’s status in natural science. It would be better for all if the defenders of evolution would act with the best virtue of natural science: an open mind allied with great tolerance.Do we as Catholics have to get embroiled in this debate? Here is an excerpt from an excellent article on the entire debate that appeared in Sunday’s Washington Post:Religious scientists and philosophers who believe Darwin is right on evolution are striving to reconcile the implications of evolution with their faith.

-ne BreadAndCircuses Offerings, such as benefits or entertainments, intended to placate discontent or distract attention from a policy or situation.Bread and circuses became the method that the ruling class of ancient Rome used to maintain their power and control of the people. Every four years the power brokers of politics put on an audience interactive game, where (in theory) the sheep have a chance to direct the path of government and decide who will be their master for the next four years. As with the citizens of Roman, the sheep have become more interested in the game itself than their own freedom. Ancient Rome has fallen and been replaced by the power brokers in Washington who control the nation state in fascist fashion, but the game is the same: keep the sheep fat, happy, and stupid as you send them off to die for the enrichment of the State. The sheep are stupid and will never see the boot on their face, as they are too busy watching the games. As long as the State never attempts to take away their football or beer, the mind-controlled sheep will continue to be content.

Early sexual experience among adolescents has also been associated with other potentially health-endangering behaviors, such as alcohol, marijuana and other drug use.Regarding the Internet, the report noted that one national survey of 10- to 17-year-olds found that one in five had inadvertently encountered explicit sexual content, and one in five had been exposed to an unwanted sexual solicitation while online.Canadian concernsThe Pediatrics report confirmed worries raised in a study published in November 2004, in a study published by the Canadian Institute for Education on the Family. In all the cases, the aggressors stated they were imitating behavior they had seen portrayed on pornographic cable television channels and on the Internet. The report also cited a number of diverse studies and commentaries by experts in which it is shown that exposure to pornography, especially of an extreme or violent nature, tends to reinforce aggressive behavior and leads spectators to imitate what they have watched. The research demonstrates that there is a modest to strong correlation between exposure to pornography and deviant activity by individuals, Stock noted. There is also concern that viewing pornography will distort the sexual development of children and adolescents. Furthermore, the numerous negative effects research point to are extremely difficult, if not impossible, for individual citizens or families to combat on their own.Studies published in research journals indicates pornography consumption is associated with these six trends, among others:– Increased marital distress, and risk of separation and divorce;– Decreased marital intimacy and sexual satisfaction;– Infidelity;– Increased appetite for more graphic types of pornography and sexual activity associated with abusive, illegal or unsafe practices;– Devaluation of monogamy, marriage and child rearing;– An increasing number of people struggling with compulsive and addictive sexual behavior.Although Internet pornography is commonly consumed by one household member in a solitary fashion, Manning argued, the impact of sexually explicit material is felt by the entire family, and the community in general.Survey data collected at the November 2002 meeting of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers in Chicago looked at the impact of Internet usage on marriages.
